Chicago Sportsmonster seems to only be releasing scheduled game times one week at a time. So I will try to stay on top of it and post the schedule on the FHA Info page.

It seems Sportsmonster if tinkering with their clocks and not emailing teams. Captain Ben checked the website today and has seen and update in game times for our next 3 games and another game added to the end of the season.

I have updated the schedule on the right hand side of this blog as well as in the FHA Info tab at the top of the page. The FHA Info tab also now has all game we have played and scores as well as our team roster with Captain Ben’s and my email address linked on the page.

Stay tuned.

Get ready Allstars we play the Golden Otters in Round 1 this Sunday at 10am.

Yes, it sucks that it is so early. But suck it up and come out to play. Make sure you do these things for game day:

  1. Email Ben and tell him if you can come or you can’t so we can get a good count or alternate players
  2. Bring your glove (or tell someone you need an extra)
  3. Call somebody if you need a ride
  4. Get directions here: Welles Park Google Map (fields all over the park, but we saw only the Northwest most corner of the park being used for Softball
  5. Go over the Sportsmonster Softball League Rules
  6. Kick some ass.

Email Ben to say if you can make it or not. Leave a comment or email me or Ben if you have comments like, “10am sucks, who books this shit?” or “I will be soooo tired, how am I gona hit all those bombs?”

Watch out Golden Otters!

Hope you’re all excited for the first Softball of the season. We will be having a Practice / Get Together / Get to Know Ya this Sunday at Welles Park.

Practice is from 2:30 - 4:30pm.

If you need a ride please arrange one with someone you know on the team, drive yourself, use public Transportation OR Email Ben or I (Our Emails are links in the Roster on the right) and we will help you get there.

Change of Plans!! Practice is now at our game time park of Welles Park

We will be playing catch and just goofing around as well. I will bring 2 extra gloves if and I encourage anyone else who has extra gloves, balls, or bats to bring those too. Stay as long as you like and if you can’t make it just email Ben or I so we know.

Please bring your league fees of $75 for Ben.

See You Sunday!

Hello Allstars,

The team has formed and the final roster is posted on the right –>

Also, because we signed up as a team it will only be $75 per person. Don’t worry if you already paid Ben, he will give you the difference back.

We also now have to find a sponsor bar or restaurant. So if you have one in mind email me or Ben or comment on this post. We also understand not everyone is 21 which is fine, no worries.

And the last announcement is that on May 17 or 18 we will be having a social practice to meet everyone and get some Softball in before the season at Warren Park. We will see what day is better for everyone.

As soon as I get a hold of the schedule I will post it. We do know our first game will be on June 22, and then every Sunday after that for 8-10 weeks.

Until then, as Chip always says, HIT THE CAGES!

Let’s do this!

Captain Ben has called Sportsmonster and we have a sign-up plan.

sports monster t shirt

Right now we have ten players that have expressed interest and can be found on the right —->

Ben and I both think that if we get 14 players it will be plenty for a full team because everyone knows people will be traveling and have other stuff on Sundays. So if you know any other people we can still sign up for a team and get the discount. But as of right now here is the plan:

  1. Everyone pays Ben via PayPal later this week ($95, which is more than we originally thought but deal with it, 10 weeks of fun in the Summer with fun people is worth it)
  2. Ben then signs us all up specifying we want to play together and Sportsmonster will fill up the rest of the team
  3. We kick some Ace

Pretty easy. So, get ready because I will send out another email this week with Ben’s PayPal info and stuff.

We will also be having a Social Gathering at the Batting Cages somewhere in the City to get to know each other and have a bit of fun before the season. Plus, Micek needs to work on his swing haha.

If you do know someone else who wants to play tell them to email me at maxkpage [at] gmail.com or have them comment on the blog. Especially Females.

Sounds like everyone likes the Sunday Idea. K, so here is the business.

  1. Ben is going to sign everyone up as individuals since we don’t have enough right now for a full team. Sportsmonster will then pair us with other individuals and we’ll still be able to play together. However, if we do end up getting enough for a team we can sign up that way.
  2. Registration fee is $95/person (That’s for eight games / eight weeks, also includes a League T-Shirt).
  3. If you are serious about playing you need to pay Ben $95 by Friday 5/2. If you want to play but can’t come up with the money by then, you need to tell me and we can work something out.
  4. The league will be 12″ Coed on Sundays at Welles Park. Games start 6/22 and can be scheduled anywhere from 9a-5p.

Here are the general rules supplied by Sportsmonster:

  1. This is a nine week league: Seven weeks regular season and two weeks of single elimination playoffs. All teams make the playoffs and are guaranteed 8 games.
  2. Matches start on the hour - 6 innings or one hour- whichever comes first , 7th inning added if more than 10 minutes left.
  3. 6 men 4 women on the field. Minimum 6 players on field to avoid forfeit
  4. Players must bring own gloves and bats. ASA only!! [basically means we need to buy a bat. I also have extra gloves for people if they need one.]
  5. Umpire fees included
  6. All registered players receive a league tee shirt late season
  7. Prizes for the winning teams
  8. Two rain out dates available
  9. Specials at host bar

So if you are still in it to win it Comment Below and we will form our final roster for sign-up, as always send this post to friends.

Ben informed me today the Summer leagues are now posted. Go check them out and tell me what you think.

Remember:

  • We are looking to play 12″
  • You must scroll down to look at leagues that will start this Summer

Ben and I are leaning towards leagues at Welles Park because apparently there aren’t any at Patta-wanna-bee or whatever it was.

I would say Thursday or Sunday League at that park, but if everyone else wants Tuesday night I would do that too.

What do you think?

Here’s the update so far.

Check out the park where we are trying to play by clicking here: Softball Park Map

We will be signing up through a site called Sportsmonster and I would personally like to sign-up a whole team. But, in the event we do not have enough for a whole team Captain Ben says we can sign-up individually and specify we want to be together.

Here’s the Roster so far:

  1. Captain Ben
  2. Max
  3. Micek
  4. Emily
  5. Jaime

We definitely need some more people. Please contact whoever you like to get this team assemble and send them a link to this post.

If you want to play some softball with us you must leave a comment on this Blog.

so I know you are interested and we will send you emails to keep you updated

For good measure here is a current list of our Fan base:

  1. Anneliese
  2. Greta
  3. Torrie

We are also interested in Fans. Send emails to possible Fans as well.

Captain Ben has found a 12″ league we can join. It is through the site Sportsmonster and located at Pottawattomie Park. Here is a map of the exact location: Click for Google Map of Park Location

There are apparently two ways we can do this:

  1. We assemble a full team and join up
  2. We all sign-up as individuals at Sportsmonster and specify we want to be together and then Sportsmonster assembles the team

Both of these options need to be decided upon pretty fast so we can get into the league if we want.

Also, if we want to have a Co-ed team which I am all for. The rules state that we have to have an equal number of Men and Women playing on the field and batting. Which means if we have 10 players in the line-up we need five girls minimum. We probably need more in case people can’t show up one night or whatever. We also need to have more than 5 Men for backup and to sub in and out.

Leave a comment below and tell me what you think and if you want to play. Also, send the link to this post to all your friends that may want to play and tell them to leave a comment if they would like to play.
